Holographix has been chosen by BAE Systems (UK) as their 2016 Product Innovation Award winner! This award was presented to Holographix in light of the numerous innovative solutions that Holographix has provided while supporting the development and manufacture of BAE Systems’ custom see-through optical waveguides.
Holographix’ corporate mission since inception in 2003 has been to provide products and services that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. In most cases however, due to the sensitive nature of our customers’ projects, they often request that Holographix refrain from disclosing our working relationship. Therefore, it is with great honor and appreciation that we accept this award from BAE Systems, to recognize the innovative ideas and solutions that Holographix is able to offer our customers.
Holographix’ surface relief replication technology, along with our proprietary replication materials and processes, has proven to be an excellent match for demanding aerospace applications. The waveguides produced for BAE Systems demonstrate examples of the state-of- the-art optical systems made possible through the incorporation of replicated surface relief diffraction gratings. These diffraction gratings enable the efficient management of light, allowing our customers to design advanced waveguide-based display products capable of a combination of performance, cost, and weight advantages that were previously not attainable with conventional optical systems.

Over the past few years, BAE Systems has announced the release of several BAE Systems designed waveguide-based HUDs and HMDs that Holographix has been instrumental in supporting the development and manufacture of. They include:
The LiteHUD® is a small and compact Head-Up Display (HUD), offering space and weight advantages paired with the latest optical waveguide technology. Its modular and lightweight design improves flight safety, reducing fatigue and increasing situational awareness day or night. Providing seamless operation with night vision goggles (NVGs), LiteHUD® allows for incremental capability upgrades with minimal impact to helmet and aircraft installation.
The Q-Sight® family of Helmet-Mounted Displays (HMD) offers a modular approach to providing pilots with heads-up and eyes-out capability, delivering mission-critical situational awareness with significant improvements in weight, cost, flexibility, simplicity, and optical performance. Weighing less than four ounces, with no bulky projection optics and no undesirable center-of-gravity issues, the Q-Sight helmet-mounted display systems offers maximum pilot safety and comfort.
The revolutionary Q-Warrior® Helmet-Mounted Display (HMD) delivers lifesaving combat situational awareness and capabilities, day and night. The full color, lightweight display clips easily to existing in-service helmets for increased capability on the battlefield at a low cost. Military operations require special capabilities, such as the identification of hostile, non-hostile, and friendly forces, and the coordination of small unit actions. With the Q-Warrior HMD, waypoints, points of interest, and targets are all displayed, overlaid on the real world, reducing workload.
