Master Gratings

In order to provide high quality replicated diffraction gratings, a high quality master mold is required. Holographix offers mastering services for the production of these molds to facilitate the manufacture of custom replicated gratings.

Holographix specializes in the design and production of high quality custom surface relief diffraction gratings operating in transmission and/or reflection mode. We provide several types of master gratings including:

  • Holographic
  • Binary (E-beam)
  • Ruled
  • Custom (multilevel, high aspect ratio, motheye, etc.)

We offer grating solutions from the design stage to final product - from stand-alone grating components to complex grating-based assemblies.

Holographic Masters

Holographix has over 20 years of experience in the production of holographic master gratings. These master gratings are used as molds for our replication process. We offer in-house production of high quality holographic masters utilizing our world-class holographic recording laboratories, fabrication skills, and innovative thinking.

Custom substrates include:

  • Planar
  • Spherical
  • Complex aspherical

Substrate materials include:

  • Glass
  • Germanium
  • Silicon

Custom solutions include:

  • Sinusoidal, blazed, or custom profiles
  • High aspect ratio gratings
  • High diffraction efficiency gratings
  • Low polarization dependent loss gratings

Binary/E-beam Masters

E-beam written and reactive-ion-etched quartz and silicon masters are typically relief gratings with rectangular profiles. In cooperation with our partner, Benchmark Technologies we provide access to a variety of master fabrication technologies, including:

  • Silicon-based masters using 193 scanner lithography
  • Silicon and quartz-based masters using Gaussian e-beam lithography
  • Quartz-based masters using shaped e-beam lithography
